One Way To Make A Chocolate Bar

You can purchase raw organic cacao powder at organic markets, health food stores, and online.

Eight ounces of this powder cost about $8.

When using this powder, I have found that the following recipe works well for making one two ounce chocolate bar:

Two tablespoons of pure organic cacao powder.

Two tablespoons of butter.

Two tablespoons of sugar.

(It can be powdered sugar, baking sugar, or regular sugar. If you dont like the graininess of regular sugar use the powdered sugar, or a middle ground is the bakers sugar which I have settled on.)

Six drops of vanilla.

(I keep an eye dropper in my bottle of vanilla)

Mix the above ingredients in a small bowl or cup and microwave them for about 40 seconds, or until the butter has melted. Stir until its a smooth liquid and pour into your mold and then place in your freezer. (I use the lid of a plastic Tupper wear container for my mold.)

If you like, you can add other flavors to this mixture, for example ground coffee, or nuts, etc.

If you want a larger chocolate bar increase your ingredients proportionality.

Thats it!

When I use the above formula my chocolate bars have a subtle snap to them after I leave them in the freezer for about an hour.

You can play with this recipe so that it suits your own tastes, adding more cacao, subtracting sugar etc.

I consider the above recipe about a 50% blend.

The cost of making this chocolate bar is approximately $1.

Since I have been making my own chocolate bars I have not bought a commercially made one. I honestly prefer my own, and I find that I only make them when I genuinely crave chocolate, and that they completely satisfy my chocolate addiction.

To make this chocolate bar takes about five minutes, and you get the pure joy and instant gratification of licking the spoon and bowl so you dont have to wait for the finished bar!
